All story content in Vellum is generated by artificial intelligence. The stories, characters, dialogue, and narratives produced by Vellum are entirely fictional and do not represent the views, opinions, or endorsements of Dawnshard Software, LLC. AI-generated content may occasionally produce unexpected, inaccurate, or inappropriate results. You acknowledge that you use AI-generated content at your own discretion.
All content generated within Vellum is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, actual events, or real locations is purely coincidental. Stories should not be interpreted as factual accounts, advice, or endorsements of any kind.
Vellum may generate content that includes mature themes, violence, and explicit material depending on user-selected content boundary settings. By using Vellum, you confirm that you are at least 17 years of age. You are solely responsible for selecting content boundary settings appropriate for your preferences. Dawnshard Software, LLC is not liable for any content generated based on your selected settings and directions.
Dawnshard Software, LLC owns the intellectual property rights for the Vellum app, including its design, code, and functionality. Stories generated through Vellum are created collaboratively between user input and AI. You retain rights to your original input (character descriptions, story directions, etc.). You may use AI-generated story content for personal, non-commercial purposes. Redistribution, sale, or commercial use of AI-generated content is not permitted without written consent.
User-Generated DirectionsYou are responsible for the directions, character descriptions, and prompts you provide to the AI. You agree not to use Vellum to generate content that promotes illegal activity, targets real individuals, or constitutes harassment or abuse. Dawnshard Software, LLC reserves the right to terminate access for users who violate these guidelines.
Modifications & ChargesDawnshard Software, LLC reserves the right to modify the app or charge for its services at any time. We will clearly communicate any charges before they are applied. We will never charge you without making it clear what you are paying for.
Device SecurityIt is your responsibility to keep your device and access to the app secure. We recommend against jailbreaking or rooting your phone, as it may compromise your device's security features and cause the app to malfunction.
Third-Party ServicesVellum uses the following third-party services, each with their own Terms and Conditions:
Vellum uses a credit-based system. Each chapter generation consumes 1 credit. The first chapter of every new story is free. Credits can be obtained through:
Subscription payments are charged to your Apple ID account. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited upon purchasing a subscription.
Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value. Refunds for credit purchases are handled through Apple's standard refund process. Dawnshard Software, LLC reserves the right to modify credit pricing and subscription offerings.
Internet ConnectivityVellum requires an active internet connection to generate stories, manage your account, and process purchases. The app will not function without Wi-Fi or cellular data. Dawnshard Software, LLC is not responsible for the app not functioning at full capacity due to lack of internet access.
Data ChargesIf you use the app outside of a Wi-Fi area, your mobile network provider's terms still apply. You may be charged for data usage, including roaming charges if applicable. By using the app, you accept responsibility for any such charges.
App UpdatesWe may update the app from time to time. The app is currently available for iOS and requires a compatible iOS version. You agree to accept updates to the app when offered. We may also discontinue the app at any time without notice. Upon termination, your rights to use the app will end.
Data StorageYour stories, characters, and related content are stored on our servers (Convex) and associated with your account. Local preferences are stored on your device. We recommend keeping your account credentials secure. Dawnshard Software, LLC is not responsible for data loss resulting from account compromise, device failure, or service discontinuation.
Limitation of LiabilityDawnshard Software, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including but not limited to: emotional distress from AI-generated content, loss of data, inability to access the service, or actions taken based on AI-generated content. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Age RequirementYou must be at least 17 years of age to use Vellum. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. Vellum is rated 17+ due to the potential for mature and explicit content.
Changes to These TermsWe may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of Vellum after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
